Happy Holidays

I’m going to try to keep this upbeat, despite the fact that the flu has descended upon my home like an unwelcome rain storm on a sunny day.

In the first piece of good news: my puppy is growing by leaps and bounds. He is 3 times the size he was when I brought him home 2 months ago! He also has about 4,000 times more sass and personality. He was a good companion tonight as I lay in bed with this fever.

He was 1 pound lighter than the cat when I brought him home from the inpatient vet facility and now his head is almost as big as River! He has his big boy teeth now and is slowly but surely growing into a very snuggly dog.

Second, it’s been two months since my beloved stepfather died. It’s painful but my momma is doing well and learning how to go on without him. It still hits me hard at times that he isn’t there with her, but he’s in our hearts always.

Third is that I’m still singing with my chorus, the Denver Women’s Chorus. The members of this group lift me up so much, even though they made it clear tonight that I should not come to rehearsal. No need to bring a fever and virus into an enclosed space of 100+ people. However, come see us sing this January for a very moving and powerful show, entitled, “Nevertheless, We Persist.”

I’ve been working my behind off trying to pay off the vet bills from when Satchmo was so sick (#parvosurvivor) but I also made some time recently to record another singing video.

I’m still probably a bit tech illiterate in a way that isn’t so cute anymore but I swear, I’m trying. That’s supposed to be a preview that says ‘June’. Also my neighbor decided to mow at the same time I decided to sing. Alas.

I’m ready for the upcoming holidays and I’m so excited for Christmas this year, with good reason, though more on that later. In between now and then, I’ll be hosting another Thanksgiving in my home with our local friends. This will be my third Thanksgiving in my lovely home, that continues to be a labor of love, and I’m excited to spend another holiday breaking bread with the people who share my life here in Colorado.

Also, if this post is a little disjointed, you have to forgive me because I have a fever. 🤒
