A Quick Thought on Tiny Homes

Whew, I’ve been married a whole month and I’ve been absent from the blog because it has been a crazy month. Once I get all our wedding pictures back (last ones should be ready today!), I will work on telling that story… first I have a few quick thoughts on the tiny home movement.

Here’s a tiny home I just saw online.

I will admit, it looks awesome! There’s a big part of me that would love to live this way but then I have to be honest with myself: we just couldn’t do it. We are currently living in a smaller home than “most” of the people I know. We have about 1000 square feet and we are bursting at the seams, no matter how many trips we make to The Nashville Mission to donate items we don’t need or use.

However, the reason a cute tiny home seems unlikely for us is that most of these homes appear to be for only 2 people. We are hoping to add a third, maybe someday a fourth little person to our family in the next year or so, and then we are also trying to plan for the future of having aging parents who may need to come live with us.

So, in considering the benefits of the tiny home (not even mentioning that there’s SO MUCH LESS to clean), as much as it would be fun to consider, I think we are headed towards a larger home to accomodate a growing family. Perhaps it won’t cost less than $25,000 but it will be the place where we create and shape all the memories of our future.
