Goals 2021

It’s hard to know what this year will bring, given we are still in the midst of a global pandemic and members of the US government are attempting to steal an election by hook or by crook. It’s really concerning and stress inducing. Is it the 20th yet?

In the meantime, I’ve set myself up with some reasonable goals for this year.

  • Continue with my physical therapy to get back to running later this year. I’m going to work hard on my core via a new piece of fitness equipment and take the dog for lots of neighborhood walks. We are both still recovering from the dog attack from December, so working on the mental and physical aspects together is proving difficult. I’m glad I took the brunt of that attack though.
  • My goal of running 1 race every month for a year is either going to start later this year in the summer or will be put on hold until December. It depends on races being in person versus virtual, which requires the pandemic to abate.
  • Dry January is here. I’m going to do my best and that’s all I’m asking of myself for now.
  • Looking forward to the hurricane repairs getting finished this month on my house. When that is done, I still have two bigger projects to contract out for but I’m pausing to get other things paid off first.
  • Speaking of money, I’m buckling down and getting back on track after a lot of house projects set me back a bit. So, it’s the second of January and I’m already broke for the month. Oh well, it’s a good goal despite how it feels at the moment. I want for nothing really, so this is just curbing the impulse to shop online.
  • When I do shop, I’m still pursuing a less waste, less plastic lifestyle so I will be ordering from companies like Stasher, Ethique, Zero Waste Store, Earthling Co, and Public Goods. I’ve been doing my best to avoid Amazon too. Put your money where businesses are doing the most good.

That’s really it. Money, home, and health are reasonable goals at this time of unrest. I’m not making big travel plans yet since I don’t have any idea if travel will be feasible. So, what are your goals for 2021?
