So, I so far have Paul Simon, Indigo Girls, and Florence and The Machine. It’s about time I add Brandi Carlile (Tori Amos is coming too… I just haven’t chosen the right song yet). I am really looking forward to seeing Brandi and the band again but this time, at Red Rocks, in August! Honestly, seeing anyone at Red Rocks is a thrill. Last year I saw Snoop Dogg. Dream come true. Oh, the smoke!
So, I took this today at the top of Lookout Mountain in Golden. I’m trying to force myself not to go until perfection. This was already about 5 takes. 1. I’m in public, singing aloud as people come and go. Nerve wracking stuff sometimes! 2. I think we have to force ourselves out of the idea of perfection and simply share our art or craft.
So, here I am singing Brandi Carlile’s “Again Today.” I forgot a few/ messed up a few lyrics, for anyone who knows the song as I do. It can happen when you’re singing without any back up, nervous, rather freezing but won’t put on your coat because it would look bulky, and out in the middle of nowhere…or atop the middle of nowhere. I also didn’t get nearly loud enough as I needed to. The song still means a great deal to me, despite the errors in performance.
I’m also still trying to figure out a way to do this without having to compress the videos multiple times to fit here. I’m wondering if Youtube is the way to go, though that leaves me open to a much larger audience than follows here. So, here it is from my brand new Youtube channel.
