Unfinished Projects

As we are continuing our mass de-clutter spree, one good piece of advice I have heeded is to ditch anything that is an unfinished project. Or the way I did it was to finish my projects so they can come with us.

I’m a pretty crafty person, though sadly I failed at knitting long ago. Wish I knew how to do it but I really sucked at it. So, I’ve had a number of little craft projects including some sewing to get done sitting around. Sewing comes and goes based on what is in need of repair and unfortunately, it is hard to find time to just sit and sew. Today I was laid out with back spasms after packing all weekend so after I took something so I could sit up and move a tad, I took to my unfinished projects.

I completed a wine cork board that I’ve been wanting to make for a few years. Albeit, I had to wait until I had enough corks and I’m not a wine drinker, so yes, it took me a few years to gather enough. When we were first dating, Racer K surprised me with a box of my favorite cigars after the mUsic City Half Marathon. So, I decided the box would be the frame for the board. Today, I finally finished the project.

I’m pretty please with how it turned out. There are corks from the his 31st birthday and our wedding included.

Next I mended a dress that I adore that had gotten a bit of a hole in it and I fixed a tear that Delta created on our suitcase. Really, Delta? Can’t seem to get a single flight out on time AND you need to damage almost brand new luggage? Ugh! I fixed it though.

Then I took to a Pinterest craft I had seen. While in the Bahamas for our honeymoon (post coming soon), we sent home postcards each day detailing our time there. They finally arrived today, 3 weeks later. So I bound them using a Japanese stab binding and we now have a cute little booklet of postcards. Hopefully some day our children will enjoy looking at them.

So, if you too are looking to remove some of the clutter in your life, it is time to either tackle those projects or toss them! Have an item of clothing you haven’t mended in over a year? Give it up or get out the needle and thread!
