Happy Easter or Rites of Spring, as I mentally refer to it as since I am not a believer in the exact mythology of Jesus.
I’ve been busy busy busy, since my in-laws were on their way to visit us and arrived today. In the last few days I cleaned up the house, including scrubbing the only carpeting we have left, which is on our two sets of stairs (ouch, my back!), and was baking up a frenzy. This morning I woke up really early (0730 on a Sunday for me is sheer force of will!) and took my girl for a quick 3.25 mile run. She’s still learning to run on the leash but doing well.
I made a childhood favorite for today’s feasting: monkey bread.
Then I made something I’ve never made before: carrot cake.
I also made a breakfast casserole, roasted some potatoes, made a ham steak, and prepared some salad and fruits for healthier additions to our feasting.
Once the family arrived, we checked out the local beach for the first time.
Yes, those are my cute toes in the cold, clean water.
Then Racer K and I inadvertently got in a longish walk in the hot sun, leading to sun burns (totally not intentional but necessary walking without sunscreen and we’ve already chastised ourselves then bathed in aloe).
Then back to the house to break in our new fire pit.
It’s going to mean many lovely summer nights this year!
All in all, a truly lovely day and we have a full 3 weeks with our family here (maybe more)! No better way to spend a beautiful spring day in Colorado!
