I decided to get a Commit 30 fitness journal at the start of the year to motivate myself to get healthier. Their instagram recommended the 30 for 30 January Jumpstart Challenge and I thought was a fun way to start the year. BTW: Love that I now have a wireless printer.
The purpose of the challenge was to jumpstart the year with better habits following the holidays. Let’s admit it, no one has healthy habits while traveling for the holidays.
The final entry of the challenge is to reflect on the last 30 days.
I find that a hard one but here goes:
- I did pretty well on the sleep front. I had a few days where I blew my self-imposed curfew, but really…what do you expect when I found a new trilogy to race through?! I can’t put a book down and go to sleep on time. It’s virtually impossible.
- Reading? Like I said, new trilogy!
- I did well on meal planning, grocery shopping, and eating in way more. I tried several new recipes that I still need to add to the blog for my meal of the week project!
- I donated to the Brees Dream Foundation. If you live under a rock, Drew Brees is the QB of the New Orleans Saints and an all around good guy.
- I did some yoga and got a bit more active but I’ve spent most of the month trying to get over bronchitis, which precluded much aerobic exercise. This is an area to improve on.
- I invested in self care regularly.
- RAD (Random Awesome Deed)- this one was easy. I love being generous with my loved ones. Gifts, even simple ones, I find are easy to come up with and give.
- Meditate- I’ve done so-so with this but any is an improvement over most of last year’s utter lack. This is a good reminder to me to sit tonight!
- One day’s challenge was to drink a green smoothie but since it’s January in Colorado, I went with borscht instead.
- Journal- between posting far more here, I’ve also turned back to writing poetry lately. Nothing extensive or brilliant so far, but I’m exercising my creative muscles, and that feels good.
- Most of the rest were things I already do regularly- staying up on budgeting, taking my vitamins, keeping my desk (and entire house) tidy, and embracing adventure.
- I did not complete a day of digital detox. So sue me. Between work and long chorus rehearsals, I need my escapes.
I finished my third season with Denver Women’s Chorus this month and also spent a lot of time in some emotional upheaval. There were things to embrace and things to let go.
I’ve also decided to start recommending some of my current favorite things at the end of posts. Maybe check them out.
